Truckstop does a great job with its Hotshot load option. That feature alone gives you clarity—when you see a load marked for hotshot, you know the broker intended it for that equipment. The downside is that many brokers automatically think hotshot equals cheaper rates, even when the load is identical to what they’d post under flatbed.
Another concern I hear repeatedly from members is broker quality. Truckstop’s system has had ongoing issues with fraud and double brokering. From a carrier standpoint, it often feels like Truckstop is more focused on volume and revenue than carrier protection.

If I had to sum it up honestly: Truckstop offers strong hotshot visibility and more live load volume but weaker broker vetting. DAT offers better fraud protection, more reliable brokers, and better odds of landing quality-paying freight.
Bottom line: DAT generally gives you a better chance at a great hotshot load, while Truckstop expands your opportunity pool. Used together, they are powerful.
