The Trailer Guys Light Review – I have received a lot of interest in the work that THE TRAILER GUYS recently did to my trailer at their Trenton, Texas location. We have been sending our group members, family and friends to THE TRAILER GUYS for a number of years. Their reputation for customer service is unparalleled in this industry. Not just for selling Trailers, but for service, parts and smarts. Some people might find Bass Pro Shops as their toy store but to me, the trailer guys are mine. I love gadgets, cool tools & upgrades and they have everything I need to make my job easier, work smarter, and be safer.
I had recently paid off my trailer and talked to Chase Gregory of The Trailer Guys regularly. I had inquired about hydraulic disc brakes and lights for my trailer. He told me that they did them and we talked about what it would take to convert them. It sounded like it was better to buy a new trailer. Then, a couple weeks later, he called me telling me that one of their new suppliers, Deemax Components, was offering a conversion kit. This kit converts your brakes from electric drum to electric over hydraulic disc.
I told them while my trailer was in the shop that I wanted to do a wish list of my idea of a dream trailer. A PIMPED OUT TRAILER. I gave them my wish list and they not only brought my vision to life but exceeded it.
I asked for the brake conversion, Trailer LED Bullet lights, LED Rear Facing Light bar, Dunnage rack, Chain and binder rack, Twin spare tire holder, and a whole set of 10 Golden Ratchatable Strap keepers. I left my trailer with them for a few days and trusted them to their creativity and skills.
The one thing I really like is when I am on the road and need to pull over and check my load, straps, chains or tires. I can hit the lights and see what I am doing… plus an additional layer of security.
Now, I am going to talk about the LED BULLET LIGHTS. I had no idea how they were going to do them. The Trailer Guys blew me away. They used approx 50 amber lights along the entire length of the trailer, with a few red ones on the dovetail. They ran them up the neck so that when I am driving I can see them in my rearview.
I am a firm believer in being seen and being safe. I love those Semi Tractor trailers that are lit up like a Christmas tree. Its important to feel secure in all types of weather, dark of night, and in traffic. It can not be expressed enough the peace of mind and satisfaction they have brought me. Maybe the best thing that has happened to me in my trucking career. The lights are small in size but light bigger and brighter than you would imagine. Recently, I had a power only load in which I had to use the customers brand new trailer. I had to drive across Texas in the rain and gloom of fog. I felt naked and invisible without my own Trailer.
Immediately, I realized a couple things. There were two cases within a day of each other in which I had to back out onto the street. I just hit my lights, flashers and I do also have LED Strobes. Backing out carefully, There was no way I was not going to be seen. Right then, I knew that this was the best decision I had made.
Working with such a great business like The Trailer Guys, that knew how and what to do to accomplish this, was amazing. For a couple years I had been looking to do this. I had even inquired to Knapheide about them. I had Googled and researched, but the answer had been right in front of me all along.
Since I have had the new lights, I leave them on all the time. They are clearly visible in the brightest of days. When I pull over, I know I am going to be seen. I have used them in inclement weather and fog now. They are unique and cool. If you see a BigTex Trailer going down the road with lights on the neck and red lights on the dovetail, that is probably me. Give me a honk.
The other item I wanted to mention and review is the LED lIght bar for my trailer deck. It is also amazing. I can load or offload in total darkness. The light reaches the entire length of my 40 ft. trailer. They wired them to power so I can use them as long as my trailer is hooked up, no matter whether my truck is running or not. The Trailer Guys know their stuff. They rewired my entire power and plugs. Nice and pretty. There are so many small details that I can not get into them all.
So, I give The Trailer Guys light review job two thumbs up. We want them and everyone to know the difference could save a life. Mine or anyone that might of ran into me out on the road. I have had my trailer hit on the side and on the back. Luckily, it did more damage to them and not my trailer.
Let me repeat my mantra, so those that think spending money is a waste. It as an investment on your life, your business and your resale value. I have said this in my books, posts, and other blog articles – YOUR Trailer is your place of business, your office, your warehouse, showroom and your money maker. You are going to be using it everyday and everywhere. It is what the world sees of you and the first thing that your customer or shipper sees. Why not make it your prime investment, your pride and joy? I know I did.
I hope you enjoyed our The Trailer Guys Light Review. We will be reviewing the other features such as the brakes, the dunnage and chain & binder rack very soon. Watch for our upcoming YouTube Channel and video- PIMP MY TRAILER
