Drivers always ask what is your MUST HAVE hotshot products or gadget, hack or necessity for Hotshotting? Well, you asked someone who is a gadget freak. I believe in tools that can save you time and hassle and I just plain loves cool goodies. I have owned several online websites for self defense products and gifts & gadgets, so I know what is out there. Believe me what I am showing you now is just a partial list of what all I carry. I could write a book on this subject, well actually I did.
Sunglasses
First and foremost, to me anyways, is your sunglasses. You need sunglasses all year round. They protect your eyes, your vision, and are important to you everyday of the year. I don’t skimp on quality and style either. I have tried others and they tend to make your vision blurry and are bad for your eyes. So, I only buy Rayban. If you paid the list price you could pay $200 but I shop shrewdly and find them usually for $100. Rayban’s can last a year sometimes if you take care of them. Money well spent.
Safety
Now to the must have hotshot products necessities that you need for your safety and to save you from being stuck on the road. For my own vehicle and property, I love and depend on my OwlCam Dash Cam. The OwlCam Dash Cam is great while I am sleeping in a hotel or my truck is at my lot. I can see anytime I want, inside and out what it is seeing, make video clips on command and alerts of any movement of my vehicle to my phone.
I highly recommend LED flashing magnetic lights. Carry an array of LED lights including amber and red and blue. I use them for wide loads, oversized loads, breaking down on the side of road and in bad weather. Also, adding a few around my trailer especially in high traffic cities.
Another must have hotshot products is a good quality bluetooth hands free earpiece. I love the small and very dependable Plantronics Explorer 50. I keep 3 pairs with me. One on me, one in my truck and one in my luggage so I am never without. Between the earpiece and the bluetooth abilities of all my devices, I never have to touch my phone or take my hands off the wheel.
Maintenance
Must have hotshot products for maintenance, you will need a cordless Impact wrench, 20 ton bottle jack, four way lug that fits your trailer tires and truck. A good pocket knife is required. I love the Kershaw Spring assist knife. It is a good one handed performance knife that I have used for many years. I also carry a good claw hammer, club hammer and duplex nails, Duck tape, electrical tape, strapping tape, twine and rope. 4 foot grabber tool is one of my favs. I use it to run straps under or over, grab my trailer hitch tennis ball aids out of the back, or grab hard to reach straps. These items have saved my load and my ass many times.
A 5 gal Fuel can is a necessity. Be sure to get the one with extra nozzle that will work with your filler. Keep needle nose pliers and screwdrivers around. Good dependable gloves that will keep you safe from splinters and cuts.
Other tools include a stapler gun, small stapler, WD-40 sprays and grease, measuring tape jumper cables, jump box, sockets, portable flashlights, paper towels, Windex, extra bungees, assortment of zip ties, and one of my favs the Cable cuff. I use the cable cuff to secure straps after rolling up or chains that are loose after binding.
Before I just bore you to death, let me mention a code scanner. A code scanner allows you to check when you get that dreaded check engine light so you know how serious what you are dealing with is. I have been there much more than I care to admit.
In Conclusion
If you are wanting to save money and bring some of mama’s home cooking with you. I recommend the HotLogic food warmer. There are so many more hacks that I have incorporated into my everyday business on the road that I can go on forever. I hope I have helped someone. That is the aim of this group… to help each other.
